Ring rolled forgings

Seamless rolled rings and special shape ring forgings up to 15,000 kg, rolled on a 4.5 m CNC ring rolling mill and supplied heat treated and tested.

Capabilities

  • Maximum weight15,000 kg
  • Ring rolling4.5 m CNC ring rolling mill
  • Presses and hammersair hammer, electro-hydraulic hammer, 2,500 t and 5,000 t presses
  • Materialscarbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and nickel-based alloys
  • Heat treatmentnormalising, austenitising, tempering, stress relieving, solution annealing

Typical parts

Gear rings for transmissions, slewing bearing rings, flanges, bearing holders and connectors, and rings for oil and gas equipment, pressure vessels, metallurgical machinery and construction machinery. Special shape ring forging saves at least 10% of material on holders and connectors compared with a plain ring.

From drawing to forging

1

Drawing review

We check the drawing, material and feasibility with the forging plant.

2

Ring blank

The billet is cut, heated, upset and pierced on the hammer or press.

3

Ring rolling

The blank is rolled on the CNC mill to the forged size and shape.

4

Treatment and testing

Heat treatment, non-destructive testing and mechanical tests follow, with a material test report.
